James Outman homered, and the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers moved nearer to a division title Sunday with a 7-3 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Jason Heyward drove in two for Los Angeles, which leads Arizona by 13 video games within the NL West. The Dodgers, who maintain the tiebreaker over the Diamondbacks, diminished their magic quantity to clinch the division to 6.

“It’s nice to have this series because we have a job to get done, which is clinching the division here in a couple days, hopefully,” stated shortstop Miguel Rojas, who had his first four-hit sport since April 20, 2021. “That’s our goal right now.”

Dodgers: 2B/OF Mookie Betts (bone bruise) returned to the lineup and went 0 for 4. Betts missed two video games after fouling a ball off his left foot Thursday. “He doesn’t really have any residual soreness and feels good, so I’m excited to get him back in the lineup,” Roberts stated. … Los Angeles positioned RHP Gus Varland (proper knee irritation) on the injured listing.

Nationals: SS CJ Abrams was out of the lineup a day after bumping his knee whereas sliding. Manager Dave Martinez stated he was accessible off the bench. … RHP Josiah Gray is scheduled to pitch Thursday in Pittsburgh, his first outing in 11 days. “I just want to give him a break,” Martinez stated. “I don’t want to shut him down. We want to keep him on schedule to throw about 160 innings.” Gray has thrown 141 2/3 innings in 27 begins.

Dodgers: LHP Clayton Kershaw (12-4, 2.61 ERA), who's 6-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 10 begins since June 2, will get the nod as Los Angeles returns dwelling Monday to face San Diego.
