ST. LOUIS — Embattled St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner introduced Thursday that she is going to resign amid calls from Republican leaders for her ouster.

In a letter to Republican Gov. Mike Parson launched by Gardner’s workplace, she mentioned she is going to step apart efficient June 1.

Gardner is the town’s first Black prosecutor and a Democrat. Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey took authorized steps to take away her from workplace in February, alleging negligence.

Bailey has mentioned too many instances, together with homicides, have gone unpunished below Gardner’s watch, that victims and their households are left uninformed, and that the prosecutor’s workplace is simply too gradual to tackle instances introduced by police.
