RALEIGH, N.C. — Most of what North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate and State Treasurer Dale Folwell raised through the first half of the 12 months for his marketing campaign committee has come from $1 million that he loaned it, in response to a brand new marketing campaign finance report.

Folwell’s marketing campaign, like others whose candidates are on ballots in 2024, had till late Friday to ship in stories to the State Board of Elections overlaying actions by June 30.

Some introduced candidates for governor had already revealed their top-line figures earlier than the deadline.

The numbers filed by Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein and Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson - the highest gubernatorial fundraisers thus far - basically matched what their campaigns had already introduced. Stein’s marketing campaign reported elevating $5.98 million by June 30, whereas Robinson’s generated $2.29 million. Stein had $8.23 million in money coming into July in comparison with $3.21 million for Robinson.

Folwell’s marketing campaign report mentioned the committee raised $1.17 million - of which $1 million was the mortgage that he offered on June 30 - and had $1.19 million in his marketing campaign coffers coming into July.

Former U.S. Rep. Mark Walker, who like Folwell is a Republican, reported elevating $554,000 - consistent with his earlier announcement - and had $495,000 in money readily available. Walker formally entered the race in May.

Stein made his gubernatorial announcement in January and stays the lone high-profile Democrat working. Folwell introduced his bid in March, adopted by Robinson in April.

Former state Sen. Andy Wells introduced his bid for the Republican nomination lower than two weeks in the past. Wells had saved open his candidate committee from his earlier races for the legislature through the 2010s and for lieutenant governor in 2020. Wells gave his marketing campaign a $51,000 mortgage on June 29, his report mentioned. The marketing campaign had $63,400 in money coming into July.

Primary elections might be held subsequent March.
