CHICAGO — Max Fried dominated via six innings in his return from the injured checklist, Sean Murphy and Marcell Ozuna homered on back-to-back pitches in Atlanta’s seven-run fourth inning and the Braves cooled off the Chicago Cubs 8-0 Friday.

Fried allowed three baserunners, all on singles, in his first begin since May 5 as he got here again from a left forearm pressure. Austin Riley added a deep solo shot within the seventh for main league-leading Atlanta, which has received three straight and 6 of seven.

Fried (3-1), a runner-up for the NL Cy Young Award final season, struck out eight earlier than exiting after 72 pitches. The wiry 29-year-old left-hander retired the primary 12 Cubs hitters with no arduous contact earlier than Cody Bellinger singled up the center to guide off the fifth.

Bellinger completed with two of Chicago’s 4 hits. The Cubs entered having received three straight and 13 of 16.

Braves hitters, who lead the majors with 209 dwelling runs, went deep consecutively for the second straight sport and for the 14th time this season.
