FIDE, the worldwide chess federation, has created the Svetozar Gligoric Prize in honor of the late, nice Yugoslavian grandmaster, awarded yearly to the participant who "who displays exemplary behavior promoting the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship in chess." It's a helpful corrective to the stereotype that chess is a sport performed by unhinged personalities who would promote their mom for a promising kingside assault.
