First it was “mothers” and “pregnant women,” and now Democrats are concentrating on one other two sex-based phrases: “husband” and “wife.”

Rep. Julie Brownley, California Democrat, launched the Amend the Code for Marriage Equality Act, which might “strike gendered terms like ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ from federal laws” and exchange them with gender-neutral selections like “spouse” or “married person.”

She stated it was essential that Congress “showcases its commitment to supporting equality,” particularly with “an extreme Supreme Court and legislatures rolling back the rights of the LGBTQ community.”
