Helen Skelton has stop her weekend BBC Radio 5 Live present, telling listeners that whereas she does not wish to depart, she needs to spend extra time together with her youngsters.

The 40-year-old presenter, who has hosted the Sunday morning programme for the previous 12 months, mentioned she could be stepping down "for now," including "needs must".

The former Blue Peter presenter took over the radio slot from former Love Island host Laura Whitmore.

Chatting to her co-host Steve Crossman throughout her closing present on Sunday, she mentioned: "I don't want to but an eight-year-old will be happy about it."

She later added: "I'm not all right about it but you know, needs must. The juggle is real. An eight-year-old with a sideline needs me."

At the tip of the present, she mentioned: "That's it for me on Sundays for now. Thank you for your company over the last year, I've loved every minute of our time together on this show...

"Thank you to all the crew, thanks to all of you. Maybe we'll meet once more quickly. It's exhausting to know what to say with out getting emotional."

Crossman informed listeners it had been "so wonderful" working together with her and that she will likely be "massively missed".

Skelton and her ex-husband, rugby league participant Richie Myler, 33, have three youngsters collectively, Ernie, eight, Louis, six, and Elsie Kate, who's one.

They introduced they have been splitting up final 12 months, with Skelton writing on her Instagram story on the time: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children."

Aside from her former radio position, Skelton co-hosts BBC One's Morning Live, Channel 5's On the Farm and rugby league protection on Channel 4. She has additionally co-presented BBC's Countryfile and can co-host Channel 5 sequence Dan & Helen's Pennine Adventure alongside Dan Walker from this week.

Last 12 months, Skelton was a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing, performing with skilled associate Gorka Marquez.
