Rishi Sunak has launched a broadside at Boris Johnson after the previous prime minister introduced his resignation from the House of Commons final week.

Mr Johnson was left livid after a few of his political allies - Nadine Dorries, Alok Sharma and Nigel Adams - weren't given the locations within the House of Lords he nominated them for

The appointments had been blocked by the House of Lords Appointments Commission (Holac), which confirmed it had taken eight folks off Mr Johnson's listing.

The former prime minister was reportedly livid after Mr Sunak - who then evaluations the listing - refused to reinstate his nominations or contemplate nominating them in a while, with Holac not wanting sitting MPs to be put within the Lords.

Speaking from London Tech Week, Mr Sunak mentioned: "Look, when it comes to honours and Boris Johnson.

Boris Johnson asked me to do something I wasn't prepared to do because I didn't think it was right.

"That was to both overrule the Holac committee or to make guarantees with folks.

"I wasn't ready to try this - as I mentioned, I did not suppose it was proper.

"And if people don't like that, then tough."

His reply was met with a smattering of applause from the group.

Mr Sunak's feedback had been the primary public assertion he has made on the matter since Mr Johnson resigned.

As properly as Mr Johnson, Ms Dorries and Mr Adams have introduced their intention to resign as MPs imminently.
