LONDON — Former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martínez was named match director for the Billie Jean King Cup finals on Thursday.

Twelve nationwide groups will play in Seville through the finals from Nov. 7-12 in what's the sixtieth yr of the competitors previously generally known as the Fed Cup.

The International Tennis Federation introduced the appointment of Martínez at a information convention in London.

Martínez received Wimbledon in 1994 and helped Spain win 5 Fed Cups through the Nineties. She was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2020.
