DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited the United Arab Emirates on Monday as a part of a swing by means of the Arab Gulf states targeted on power and commerce.

He met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the president of the UAE, which shall be internet hosting the COP28 U.N. local weather summit later this 12 months.

Kishida visited Saudi Arabia over the weekend, the place he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The two launched a joint initiative geared toward selling clear power. He will go to gas-rich Qatar on Tuesday.

Japan is the fifth-largest oil client on the earth and depends on imports to satisfy round 97% of its demand. It imports greater than 75% of its crude oil from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
