Kabosu, the canine behind the "doge" meme, has died on the age of 18 after having fun with greater than a decade of web fame.
The Japanese shiba inu had been affected by leukaemia and liver illness.
"To all of you who loved Kabosu, on the morning of the 24 May, Kabosu crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you all so much for your support over the years," Atsuko Sato, her proprietor, wrote on Instagram.
"She went very peacefully without suffering, as if falling asleep while feeling the warmth of my hands petting her.
"Thank you all a lot for loving Kabosu all these years.
"I am certain Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world. That makes me the happiest owner in the world.
"I want to specific my deepest appreciation to everybody who has despatched us a lot like to us."
Ms Sato, a trainer in Japan, adopted Kabosu in 2008 when she was despatched to an animal shelter after her pet mill shut down.
Kabosu turned an web sensation when a 2010 photograph of her with crossed paws and a slight smirk unfold on Reddit and Tumblr.
A Reddit consumer referred to the picture as "Doge" - the intentional misspelling of canine a nod to a 2005 episode of Homestar Runner.

The doge meme turned standard in 2013. Coloured Comic Sans textual content overlays the photograph, with damaged English phrases like "Wow. So scare" and "What r u doing?" surrounding Kabosu.
In 2021 the "Doge" meme bought as a non-fungible token (NFT) for $4m (Β£3.2m).
Kabosu can be the face of the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, which was initially created as a "joke" forex and is the sleeve sponsor of Watford Football Club.
For just a few days in April the Dogecoin emblem was used because the icon for the Twitter dwelling button.
