A peanut scarcity might be looming as employees at KP Snacks threaten strike motion. 

Pubs and supermarkets can be "hit hard" by industrial motion, Unite union stated, as a result of the Rotherham manufacturing facility is the one producer of KP Snacks.

The union stated employees had been being "paid peanuts" whereas the corporate had elevated its earnings by 275% since 2018.

About 135 employees at KP Snacks, together with low-paid cleaners, will vote on strike motion this week.

Average pay at KP Snacks has fallen in actual phrases by 14% since 2018, Unite stated.

The present firm supply is a pay rise of 6% plus a £1,000 one-off fee.

But the bottom paid cleaners, who earn £10.66 an hour, have been excluded from the pay supply.

"To exclude the lowest paid workers from the pay negotiations all together is corporate greed in action," Unite normal secretary Sharon Graham stated.

"Especially when KP Snacks made £54m in profit. The workers have Unite's steadfast support."

Unite regional officer, Chris Rawlinson, stated: "Unite members are determined to get a fairer portion of the company's huge profits. It's time for management to put a serious pay offer to the workforce."
