ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The govt director of the Maryland Port Administration resigned late final week after being concerned in a four-vehicle crash in a state-issued automobile that resulted in police citing him for failing to regulate velocity, leaving the scene of a property injury crash and following too shut.

William Doyle was cited by authorities after the crash final Tuesday morning on southbound Interstate 83 in Baltimore, Maryland State Police mentioned in an announcement.

“While we cannot discuss details of personnel matters, I can confirm that Bill Doyle did submit his resignation on Friday,” Maryland Port Administration spokesman Richard Scher mentioned in an announcement.

Deputy Executive Director Brian Miller is serving as interim performing govt director on the port, Scher mentioned.

Investigators consider three autos had been stopped within the journey portion of the highway on the time of the crash, state police mentioned. Doyle was driving a state-issued 2017 Jeep and crashed right into a pickup, inflicting a sequence response with two different autos, police mentioned. No one was hospitalized.

Doyle, 53, left the scene of the crash, although he later known as police and informed them about it, state police mentioned. Troopers contacted Doyle and met him on the scene of the crash.

Doyle, of York, Pennsylvania, didn't have a lawyer listed in courtroom information. He had served as the manager director of the port administration for practically three years.

The govt director of the port administration oversees and manages the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore’s six state-owned, public marine terminals. The has a wage exceeding $300,000, the Baltimore Sun reported.
