BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Micah McDowell had 4 base hits and drove in six runs and Gavin Turley added six extra RBIs on three hits as Oregon State pummeled Sam Houston 18-2 in a first-round sport within the Baton Rouge Regional Friday evening.
The Beavers advance to face host LSU in a second-round sport Saturday. Sam Houston faces Tulane in an elimination sport.
The Beavers pounded 5 Sam Houston pitchers for 22 hits. Only two of the 9 Oregon State hitters didn't have a number of base hits whereas McDowell and Travis Bazzana every collected 4.
Trent Sellers labored 7 ⅓ innings to earn his seventh win in 12 selections, scattering three hits whereas putting out 5.
Coltin Atkinson gave up eight runs on 11 hits, three of them house runs, over his three-inning begin for the Bearkats.
