The UK's competitors regulator has launched a contemporary investigation into Microsoft's proposed £55bn takeover of Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard after the tech agency provided a brand new treatment in a bid to get the deal over the road.

"We will rigorously and objectively assess the small print of the restructured deal and its impression on competitors, together with in mild of third-party feedback.
