A one-year-old Australian shepherd returned to its homeowners in Alaska after greater than a month aside, having undertaken an epic odyssey throughout 150 miles (240km) of frozen Bering Sea ice which concerned a run-in with a thriller animal.

Nanuq's proprietor, Mandy Iworrigan, lives in Gambell on St Lawrence island within the Bering Strait, and he or she and her household had been visiting Savoogna, one other neighborhood on the island, final month.

While they had been there, Nanuq disappeared with the household's different canine, Starlight, in accordance with the Anchorage Daily News.

"I was like, 'No freakin' way! That's our dog! What is he doing in Wales?'" she stated.

"I have no idea why he ended up in Wales. Maybe the ice shifted while he was hunting," Ms Iworrigan stated. "I'm pretty sure he ate leftovers of seal or caught a seal. Probably birds, too. He eats our native foods. He's smart."

Ms Iworrigan used airline factors to get her canine again to Gambell on a regional air service final week and filmed the blissful reunion when the airplane landed on the airstrip in Savoonga, as she and her daughter Brooklyn shrieked with pleasure.

During his thriller journey, Nanuq apparently encountered a predator as he was discovered with massive chew marks on a swollen leg from an unidentified animal.

"Wolverine, seal, small nanuq... we don't know, because it's like a really big bite," she stated.
