Nobody would go to jail for refusing to adjust to National Service below a Conservative authorities, the house secretary has stated.

In the Conservatives' first coverage announcement of the final election marketing campaign, Rishi Sunak stated on Saturday he would introduce a brand new type of necessary National Service for 18-year-olds if his celebration wins the vote in July.

They could be given the selection of a full-time army placement for 12 months or a scheme to volunteer for one weekend a month for a 12 months.

Talking to Sky News's Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips, Home Secretary James Cleverly stated: "There's going to be no criminal sanctions, nobody's going to jail over this."

He added that "nobody will be compelled to do the military element" however stated those that do might be paid - whereas those that select to volunteer won't be paid.
