MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian courtroom has prolonged the arrest of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich by three months, Russian information businesses reported Tuesday.

Gershkovich, an American citizen, was ordered held till Aug. 30. He had been arrested in March on espionage expenses on a reporting journey in Russia. He, his employer and the U.S. authorities have denied the fees.

Gershkovich is the primary U.S. correspondent for the reason that Cold War to be detained in Russia on spying expenses, and his arrest rattled journalists within the nation and drew outrage within the West.

The U.S. authorities has declared Gershkovich to be “wrongfully detained” and demanded his fast launch. He’s being held in Moscow’s Lefortovo jail.

Tuesday’s courtroom listening to wasn’t introduced upfront, and your entire case has been wrapped in secrecy. Russian authorities haven’t detailed what proof — if any — they must assist the espionage expenses. Various authorized proceedings have been closed to the media.

U.S. Embassy officers have been allowed no less than one jail go to to Gershkovich since his arrest in Yekaterinburg on March 29. But Russian authorities have denied different visits.
