Search and rescue operations had been ongoing early Friday after a U.S. navy fighter jet crashed in a single day close to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar outdoors San Diego, authorities mentioned.

The single-seat F/A-18 Hornet went down about 11:50 p.m. Thursday in an space east of the airbase that Marine Corps officers mentioned was government-owned property.

“There are no indications of damage to property on the ground,” Marine Corps officers mentioned in an announcement. “Search and rescue actions are ongoing (and) an investigation has begun.”
