A 22-year-old lady has had her leg bitten off by a shark whereas snorkelling within the Caribbean.

The lady, who's from Connecticut within the US however has not been named, was taken to hospital in a critical situation on the Turks and Caicos Islands, police stated.

She and her buddy have been snorkelling exterior the Blue Haven Resort close to the Leeward Marina in Providenciales, one of many islands, when the assault occurred simply after 3pm on Wednesday.
