A marketing campaign advert launched by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who's operating for mayor of Houston, referred to as on voters to get out a vote — on the incorrect day.

The Texas Democrat is operating to switch Democratic Mayor Sylvester Turner in a runoff election. Her advert urges residents to make their solution to the polls “on or before Dec. 7,” however the election is Dec. 9. The advert aired on Houston’s tv markets, Mediaite confirmed.

In the advert, Ms. Jackson Lee discusses her time on the town council and in Congress.

“Houston, I’ve spent my entire career fighting for you. From fighting to keep our kids safe from guns when I was on the city council, to my days in Congress fighting to protect women’s reproductive freedom and for funding for our police, schools and small businesses,” she says within the video.

“Now, I’m running to be your mayor because if we’re gonna bring down crime, fix our streets, and bring good paying jobs here, then Houston needs a champion who’s ready to fight for what’s right. And I am,” she says.

The advert ends with the graphic telling viewers to vote on the incorrect day.

Ms. Jackson Lee faces Democratic state Sen. John Whitmire within the mayoral race. Both the congresswoman and Mr. Whitmire made it to the runoff after the state’s normal election on Nov. 7. The two beat out 14 others.
