Tony Blair has stated that the NHS is "not serving its purpose" in an unique interview with Sky News.

Speaking to Sophy Ridge on Sunday, the previous PM did not mince his phrases when addressing the present state of the UK's well being service.

Asked if he thought the NHS was offering a superb normal of service, Mr Blair replied: "No, at the moment. In some respects the staff do a great job in difficult circumstances.

"And I feel the overall expertise of individuals is in case you're in actually acute issue, then then it nonetheless does present superb care.

"But a variety of the ready lists are horrible, COVID, in fact, has made it lots worse.

"The truth is, you're not going to have a lot more money to spend, but you do have to think how do we do things completely differently."

He went on to say that he felt there must be extra non-public sector involvement within the NHS, saying there must be "complete cooperation between the public and private sector".

Mr Blair stated: "The downside at all times with the general public sector, and that is what I realized in authorities, is the robust factor is to get it to innovate.

"Because in the private sector, if you don't innovate, you go out of business, but it doesn't happen in the public sector."

He added that "private" should not be thought-about a "dirty word" and went on to say that the NHS, in its present state, was not serving its goal, regardless of using extra folks than ever earlier than.

The former prime minister stated: "The NHS is a great institution and we should keep its principles. But the truth? I mean, you don't have to be a genius to look at it and say it's not, it's not serving its purpose."
