HARARE, Zimbabwe — The coach of Zimbabwe’s girls’s soccer workforce will seem in courtroom on Wednesday after being charged with sexual assault, police mentioned.
Shadreck Mlauzi was accused of undesirable sexual advances by an assistant coach on his employees throughout a southern African regional match and remains to be in custody.
The non permanent head of the Zimbabwe Football Association mentioned he'll wait to listen to from the police earlier than deciding on Mlauzi’s future.
“We will allow the police to do their job, without prejudice. As the national association, we will follow the police’s lead,” Lincoln Mutasa, the chief of the federation’s interim governing physique, advised The Associated Press on Tuesday.
“All we can say for now is that everybody who went on that trip (to South Africa) signed a code of ethics certificate, and as an FA we are going through our own investigation. But on this one, we will be guided by the best qualified authority, who is the police in this instance.”
Police in Harare mentioned Mlauzi will seem in courtroom for a second time on Wednesday.
The match in South Africa was Zimbabwe’s first aggressive matches because the nation’s 17-month worldwide ban for presidency interference was lifted by FIFA in July.
The Zimbabwe Football Association additionally mentioned it had requested that its males’s World Cup qualifier in opposition to Nigeria in November be staged in Rwanda.
Zimbabwe’s stadiums have been deemed substandard by the Confederation of African Football in February 2020 and have been banned.
Zimbabwe will open World Cup qualifying at Rwanda in November. The workforce is because of host Nigeria 4 days later at house. However, the federation has requested to remain in Rwanda for the second match.
The change should be accepted by CAF and FIFA.
