Boat between Greece and Malta carrying about 400 ‘folks in misery’ is ‘taking over water’

A ship carrying about 400 folks “in distress” has been noticed adrift between Greece and Malta and is taking over water, help providers have stated.

German NGO Sea-Watch International tweeted that these on board had been in “imminent danger of death” and referred to as on the EU to behave.

Alarm Phone additionally tweeted its issues, saying it had obtained a name from the boat, which departed from Tobruk in Libya.

The vessel is alleged to be out of gas and its decrease deck is filled with water.

The captain has left and there may be “nobody who can steer the boat”, Alarm Phone stated.

It added that it had alerted the authorities.

The boat is now within the Maltese Search and Rescue space, Alarm Phone added.
