CAIRO (AP) — The our bodies of dozens of individuals allegedly killed by Sudanese paramilitary and allied militia have been uncovered in a mass grave in West Darfur, the United Nations mentioned Thursday.
According to “credible information” obtained by the U.N. Human Rights Office, the our bodies of the 87 individuals, a few of whom belong to the ethnic African Masalit tribe, have been dumped in a one-meter (round three-foot) shallow grave simply exterior the West Darfur metropolis of Geneina.
The first 37 our bodies have been buried on June 20, the U.N. company mentioned in a press release from Geneva. The subsequent day, one other 50 our bodies have been dumped on the identical website. Seven girls and 7 youngsters have been amongst these buried.
Sudan has been rocked by violence since April 15 when tensions between the navy and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces erupted into open preventing.

Darfur had been the scene of genocidal struggle within the early 2000s, when ethnic Africans rebelled, accusing the Arab-dominated authorities in Khartoum of discrimination. Former dictator Omar al-Bashir’s authorities was accused of retaliating by arming native nomadic Arab tribes, generally known as Janjaweed, who focused civilians.
JanJaweed fighters have been folded into the RSF.
