Practically 10 tons of liquid meth hidden in nearly 11,000 bottles of tequila seized in Mexican port

The Mexican Navy halted a cargo of tequila after inspectors found that the liquor bottles truly contained over 9.5 tons of liquid methamphetamine.

The liquid meth was saved in 960 containers, every field containing 12 fifths of Don Chicho tequila — a fifth is equal to 750 milliliters. 

The meth was found on Sunday, within the Pacific Ocean port of Manzanillo within the Mexican state of Colima.

Drug canine alerted human personnel to the methamphetamine. The bottles contained light-brown liquid, in line with aged, or “añejo,” tequila, in keeping with the Associated Press.

Mexican officers didn’t focus on whether or not the producer of the tequila was concerned.

While Don Chicho merchandise can be found on some web sites, the model doesn’t have an internet site of its personal, and its Google Business profile says the corporate is “temporarily closed,” in keeping with cartel and border information web site Borderland Beat.

If the smuggling had succeeded, drug traffickers would have drained the water from the 9.5 tons of the liquid, leaving crystal meth behind.
