President of Ireland Michael D Higgins taken to hospital after feeling unwell

President of Ireland Michael D Higgins has been taken to hospital after feeling unwell.

The 82-year-old was taken for assessments in Dublin after being assessed by a health care provider at his official residence within the capital.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

It just isn’t but recognized if he might be saved in hospital in a single day.

Last evening Mr Higgins offered the 2024 Volta Lifetime Achievement Award to movie director Steve McQueen on the Dublin International Film Festival.

He was first elected president in 2011 and was re-elected in 2018.

The Irish president, whereas head of state, has restricted constitutional powers and is seen as a principally ceremonial function.
