Two navy warships crash off coast of Bahrain

Two UK warships have collided off the coast of Bahrain, the Royal Navy has stated.

Social media footage seems to indicate HMS Chiddingfold reversing into HMS Bangor within the Gulf, sparking an official investigation.

No one on board both vessel was injured, however “some damage was sustained”, the navy stated.

Rear Admiral Edward Ahlgren added: “Why this happened is still to be established.

“We prepare our folks to the best requirements and rigorously implement equipment security requirements, however sadly incidents of this nature can nonetheless occur.

“I assure you that a full and thorough investigation is already under way and any changes in procedure that could prevent further incidents will be rapidly implemented.

“In the meantime the UK will proceed to play a key half in guaranteeing the security of service provider delivery within the area.”

UK and US forces are main an operation to make sure the security of vessels within the area, who’re being forcibly diverted away from the Suez Canal after Houthi forces started attacking them over the Israel-Hamas warfare.
